BBC Children in Need

No cause gets Post Office teams going quite like BBC Children in Need. For over seven years, we’ve been proudly supporting this fantastic charity, raising funds to help disadvantaged children and young people across the UK.

With thousands of inspiring projects benefiting people in all four corners of Britain, it’s the perfect fit for a Post Office that’s still right at the heart of our communities. We’re among BBC Children in Need’s biggest corporate partners, and can’t wait to get involved each year.

Whether it’s collecting public donations, baking cakes, dressing in a onesie, cycling across the country, hosting a quiz or competing in office Olympics, Post Office people are always ready to show their spots and raise lots for Pudsey. Our collective efforts raised over £1 million in 2012 alone, and again in 2013. But we’re not finished yet!

About BBC Children in Need

The BBC Children In Need vision is that every child in the UK has a childhood that is:

  • Safe
  • Happy and Secure
  • Allows them the chance to reach their potential

The charity provides grants to projects in the UK that focus on children and young people who are disadvantaged. It is local to people in all corners of the UK and supports small and large organisations that empower children and extend their life choices.

BBC Children in Need grant programmes are open all year round for applications, with a focus on allocating the money to deserving projects four times a year. To find out more about the grant programmes, apply for a grant or hear how some children's lives have been changed for the better, visit 'Change Lives.'

The calendar

The BBC Children in Need Appeal Night takes place every year in November. The Appeal show is a whole evening of entertainment on BBC One with celebrities singing, dancing, and doing all sorts of crazy things to help raise money.

There are also plenty of one-off specials of your favourite programmes, which in the past have included Doctor Who, Strictly Come Dancing, The One Show, EastEnders and much more! Even before BBC Children in Need Appeal Night, there is plenty going on around the UK. You can get lots of tips and ideas on how to get involved, including how to organise an activity in your local area, or there is plenty of fun stuff going on for you to take part in so there's something for everyone.

Where the money goes

Every penny from the money you raise or donate will go towards helping disadvantaged children and young people right here in the UK. BBC Children in Need is able to make this promise by using investment income and Gift Aid to cover all running costs, so you can be sure your money makes a real difference.
