Horizon IT Inquiry

An independent public inquiry into the Horizon IT scandal was established in September 2020. Following a request from the Chair of the Inquiry, Sir Wyn Williams, it became a statutory inquiry in June 2021.

You can read more about the remit of the Inquiry and what it is investigating on its website here.

Post Office Limited is a core participant in the Inquiry, alongside the affected Postmasters, UKGI, our shareholder, the Department of Business, Energy and Industry Strategy (BEIS), and Fujitsu.

We are fully cooperating with the Inquiry and in November, we agreed to waive relevant legal privilege for the purpose of the Inquiry to over 20 years of documentation, reflecting our desire to assist the Inquiry in obtaining the information necessary to complete their investigations.

During 2022, current and former Post Office staff are expected to be called to give evidence to the Inquiry.

We will publish updates on the Inquiry here throughout the year.
