Facing the challenges - working to build successful Post Office and retail businesses – has been the theme of the 2016 annual NFSP conference, which began on Sunday in Solihull.
It started with a trade show open to all postmasters, with exhibitors including Proctor & Gamble, Premier, WHSmith, Mars, First Rate Exchange and Grapevine. The Post Office had two stands - about developing retail for profit, and a drop-in ‘surgery’ with experts on hand to answer questions about everything from network transformation to IT. Post Office also hosted a series of workshops on three topics: Retailing for Profit; Social Media; and Maximising Sales.
The conference itself began on Monday afternoon with the NFSP AGM. On Tuesday keynote speakers were Jim Nott, NFSP president, Post Office Chairman Tim Parker and CEO Paula Vennells, Martin Swadlin, Director of Premier, and NFSP General Secretary George Thomson. Mark Siviter, Head of Mails at the Post Office, spoke during debate on mails in the afternoon, and this morning (Wednesday) began with a discussion about banking led by Martin Kearsley, Banking Director for the Post Office.
Nick Beal, Head of Agents' Development & Remuneration, said: "We were pleased to attend the conference and share our plans with postmasters and listen and learn from the experiences they have from working with our customers."
