Here's Sonya's story.
Sonya has led the post office and the adjoining charity (C.A.R.E CIC Herefordshire) for the past eight years, alongside a team of local volunteers. Sonya’s was recognised in the 2020 Queen’s Birthday Honours for her community work stretching across 23 nearby villages.
The Pontrilas Post Office provides essential services to the local community and 23 nearby villages through:
- Banking services for over 200 small businesses owners, including access to cash withdrawals and deposits
- A warm hub for vulnerable people, families, and the elderly to come socialise, receive advice, and feel like they belong to a community
