Today, Post Office Chairman Nigel Railton announced a bold new, five-year strategy for Post Office that looks to deliver a ‘New Deal for Postmasters’.
Our intent is that by 2030 this New Deal, which is subject to government funding, should deliver:
- A £250m increase in overall annual postmaster remuneration, significantly increasing the viability of branches and ensuring they can continue to provide the vital contact points with customers that they offer our clients;
- A far greater role for postmasters in the day-to-day operations of the business, strengthening their voice across Post Office – from the Board room to the frontline
- An enhanced package of support from Post Office, from onboarding and set-up, through to systems support and commercial excellence training.
At the same time, it will set Post Office on a more commercially sustainable footing and, in doing so, protect Post Office’s long legacy of social value for the next generation.
