Banking at the heart of Post Office
Banking has become a cornerstone of our strategy. With over 11,500 branches, we’re the UK’s largest retail network - and a lifeline for customers and businesses who need face-to-face financial services.
To deliver our commitment to cash, Post Office has renewed a five-year partnership with UK banks and building societies, running from January 2026 to December 2030. Banking Framework 4 guarantees continued access to cash services at our branches nationwide.
Through this agreement, customers of 30 banks and building societies can:
- Withdraw and deposit cash
- Pay in cheques
- Check balances
Supporting postmasters and communities
Our postmasters play a vital role in delivering these services. Under the New Deal for Postmasters, we’re:
- Increasing remuneration for cash services
- Investing in cash automation to reduce costs and improve efficiency
- Strengthening the commercial offer for postmasters
Banking Hubs: a community solution
Banking Hubs are shared spaces where customers of multiple banks can access services under one roof. Post Office plays a key role in developing and operating these hubs, working with Cash Access UK to ensure communities stay connected to essential banking.
Why it matters
With thousands of bank branches closing since 2015, Post Office’s network of 11,500+ branches is more important than ever. We’re committed to keeping communities connected and supporting local businesses.
