The Leader of Westminster City Council, Cllr Adam Hug officially “cut the ribbon” (21/3) at the grand opening of relocated Queensway Post Office at a brand-new convenience store.

The new postmaster is Ahamed Nifras who has transformed an empty store at 70 Westbourne Grove, London, W2 5SH. He undertook a major refurbishment for Queensway Post Office and Queensway Express, which is an up-market convenience store.
This has restored Post Office services to the area after the previous branch at 118-120 Queensway, London, W2 6LT, closed in May 2024.
Leader of Westminster City Council, Cllr Adam Hug, said: “I know how important a Post Office is to our communities, so I’m thrilled to be able to officially open this new one and restore vital services to Queensway. We worked closely with the Post Office to bring back a branch to the heart of the community and I wish our new postmaster the best of luck with the fantastic store.”
James Small-Edwards AM, London Assembly Member for West Central also joined in the community celebration with customers.
This modern and well-appointed shop offers a very wide-range of Post Office services.
There are three Post Office counters, two open-plan and a Post Office service point alongside the retail counter.
Queensway Post Office is open Monday to Sunday: 7am – 9pm. This provides 98 hours of Post Office service a week making it convenient for customers. This is more than double the opening hours previously offered including all-day Sunday, Saturday afternoon, earlier opening and later closing every day.
Queensway postmaster, Ahamed Nifras, said: “People have been very excited about the Post Office and shop opening. We’ve been busy getting everything looking just right for the opening and when I have gone outside, people immediately approached me for an up-date as they were so keen for Post Office services to be restored to their community.
“There are no banks in the area, so Queensway Post Office is the place for residents and businesses to do their everyday banking on behalf of all the major high street banks.
“I’m experienced at running convenience stores and restaurants, and I’m really pleased to have taken on first Post Office in the Queensway area and I wanted to make sure the premises would be refurbished to a high standard.”
Deepak Valani, Post Office Business Support Manager, said: “Queensway Post Office and convenience store look impressive. It’s modern, has a great layout and the store looks really welcoming. It is well-stocked to meet the needs of the area. This is a 1st class Post Office.”
