Our Executive Team

The Strategic Executive Group (SEG) is the most senior leadership team which is accountable to the Board for the day-to-day operations of the Post Office. The Group Executive changed to the SEG in February 2024.

 

Nick Read – Chief Executive

Nick joined Post Office as Chief Executive Officer in September 2019. Nick was most recently Group CEO at Extra Energy and prior to that CEO at Nisa Retail Limited where he led the stabilisation and transformation of the business ahead of its sale to the Co-Op in 2018.

Nick has over 25 years of consumer and commercial experience and has previously held senior roles at Tesco, Vodafone, HBOS, Lloyds Banking Group and Thomas Cook.

In his earlier career, Nick was a Consumer and Retail Strategy Manager at Deloitte Consulting, a Purchasing Director for Aldi UK and spent 4 years as Captain of the 4th/7th Royal Dragoon Guard, H.M. Forces.

Neil Brocklehurst - Acting Chief Executive Officer

Neil has over 25 year’s experience of delivering transformational change. He joined the Post Office in July 2024 having spent the previous 15 years at Camelot Group, the operator of the National Lottery. He joined Camelot as the UK Transformation Director before moving to the international business, performing a number of roles before becoming Managing Director.

Following this, he re-joined the UK business as Commercial Director responsible for over £8Bn of sales, before becoming CEO, leading the business through a post transaction integration. Prior to his time at Camelot Neil worked in consulting for Accenture and the Berkeley Partnership.

Karen McEwan - Group Chief People Officer

Karen joined the Post Office in September 2023 as Group Chief People Officer. Karen has an extensive executive leadership background, most recently with more than six years at McColl’s, acting as Interim Chief Executive Officer to lead the business through the administration process to the successful sale to Morrisons plc. This appointment followed a five-year period leading cultural change as their Chief People Officer and subsequently Chief Operating Officer.

Before her time at McColl’s, Karen held a variety of Director roles during a long and successful career at Tesco, which spanned general management and HR, including five years as People Director where she led the HR transformation for Tesco’s UK Operation.

Karen was recently named as a ‘woman to watch in retail’, for her achievements in diversity and inclusion.

Preetha McCann - Interim Chief Finance Officer

Preetha has a wealth of experience working in finance leadership roles in consumer facing organisations. She combines commercial and strategic insight with technical expertise to work with boards to drive growth, restructure operations and deliver change in businesses in the UK and internationally.

Preetha has worked for leading retail, consumer, online, aviation and infrastructure companies including Tesco, John Lewis, WHSmith, Heathrow and Selfridges.  Preetha also has a background in professional services, where most recently, she was a partner at EY, and has previously worked for PwC and Accenture.

Andy Nice - Interim Chief Transformation Officer

Andy has spent nearly 25 years delivering complex and effective business transformation, through a combination of 15 years' experience in global business consulting and 10 years of executive roles held at major UK organisations (including most recently as Transformation Director at Camelot, operator of The National Lottery).

Andy has worked in both the public and private sector, in industries such as telecommunications (British Telecom, Vodafone), media (BBC), retail (John Lewis, Mothercare), finance (HSBC, Lloyds) and digital (Jobsite, DMGT) creating extensive experience in both implementing strategic change and operating day-to-day with the highest levels of excellence and integrity. 

Dan O'Mahoney - Interim Chief Operating Officer

Dan O'Mahoney joined Post Office as the Inquiry Operations and Strategy Director in March 2024 and was appointed as Interim COO in December 2024.

Prior to joining Post Office, Dan held a number of Executive level National Security roles in Government. Dan has extensive experience of delivering large and highly complex Operations as well as leading on the response to the type of challenges that are highly relevant within the new Operations pillar, including data and technology innovation in service delivery and large public sector procurement programmes. 

Sarah Gray - Interim Group General Counsel (BAU)

Sarah joined Post Office as Group Legal Director in June 2020 and was appointed Interim Group General Counsel in April 2024. Sarah is a seasoned lawyer with nearly 25 years’ experience managing risk and building, developing and leading both legal and non-legal teams (such as whistleblowing, investigations, governance and compliance). Sarah started her career at US law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges as a corporate/ commercial lawyer, before joining Rexam PLC, (a multinational consumer packaging company), in 2005. From there, Sarah went on to hold senior legal roles within blue chip companies such as Santander and RSA.  Sarah is also a qualified company secretary.

John Dillon - Interim General Counsel (Inquiry & Remediation)

John joined Post Office on 1 July 2024.  His 30+ year legal career began in private practice in London, before he joined the in-house legal team at Camelot, the UK National Lottery operator, in 1998.  In his 25+ years with Camelot and its fellow group companies, John worked on a wide range of projects and business initiatives in the UK and internationally, including large-scale operational and technology transformation. Appointed as Camelot’s General Counsel in 2009, he was also appointed as Company Secretary in 2010, and continued in those roles as a member of the executive team until the expiry of the Third National Lottery Licence at the end of January 2024.

Charlotte Cool - Interim Corporate Affairs Director

Charlotte joined Post Office at the end of April 2024. Her career began in the 1990s when she worked for a Labour MP and then joined the election campaign team for Tony Blair’s historic landslide. Charlotte enjoys a challenge.

After her time in politics, she became a lobbyist for the UK TV and film industry, then joined Viacom to run corporate affairs in the UK, and from there became CEO of the industry body representing US broadcasters – negotiating with government and Ofcom to help them enter the market.

From broadcasting, she moved into Communications Director roles with John Lewis Partnership, Asda, and most recently Compass Group. She learned a lot about engaging a large and remote workforce – through employee representation, servant leadership and localisation. Charlotte is passionate about using that experience at the Post Office so that we can develop a true partnership with Postmasters.

Ed Dutton – Interim Co-Chief Revenue Officer

Ed started his career in retail as a merchandise buyer at Marks and Spencer, before working in e-commerce in both an international start up and launching Kingfisher’s Health and Beauty business Superdrug. He joined AXA Insurance in 2001 working in strategy and distribution before becoming Underwriting Director of Personal Lines. His previous role before joining the Post Office was as CEO of British Gas Insurance which he helped launch and develop as Centrica converted their £1bn Home Services division into a regulated Insurance business in 2010. 

He is also an advisor to Ventureprise Ltd, a growing Home Services business.

Pete Marsh – Interim Co-Chief Revenue Officer

Pete joined Post Office in September 2022 as the Director of Retail Operations, overseeing the operational day to day running of the Post Office network. He was appointed as an interim member of the Executive team in September 2024.

Prior to joining Post Office, Pete has a strong background spanning over 30 years working across several operational, strategic, and business transformation roles. Pete has worked in a variety of industry sectors, both in the UK and internationally (including Dixons Stores Group, Travelex, and Vodafone), and he is skilled at leading scaled change programmes, managing complex operational functions, and simplifying business operations to improve the service offering, drive efficiency, and enable sustainable growth. 

Chrysanthy Pispinis - Chief of Staff

Chrysanthy joined the Royal Mail Group in 2006, and moved to Post Office in 2009. Before taking on the Chief of Staff role in September 2023, she held numerous commercial positions, including driving the commercial strategy and key partner negotiations, and running the financial services business. Prior to joining the business, she worked in media consulting, advising blue chip companies internationally.

Paul Anastassi - Interim Chief Technology Officer
