A family business – run by the community, for the community.
Post Offices are often a family business – run by the community, for the community. A great example of this are the Shaikh brothers, who already ran three successful Mains Post Offices in Lancashire, and have together recently opened their biggest Mains branch yet in Blackpool.
Fazail Shaikh is Postmaster for Colne, Ramiz is Postmaster for Skipton Road, and Azim is Postmaster for Whalley. Between them, they have 25 years of retail experience and 15 years of Post Office experience, offering the wide range of Post Office services provided at Mains branches.
Azim is officially the Postmaster for Blackpool. His bubbly, welcoming personality means he is a great Postmaster for this famous seaside town’s biggest Post Office. He is a smart businessman and negotiated with Blackpool council to move the new branch into modern premises with great parking, making it very convenient for customers to visit with their parcels, home shopping returns and banking needs.
Importantly Azim also clearly cares about the people he serves. As Postmaster for Whalley he won the Post Office’s ‘We’re Stronger Together’ regional awards for the North of England region in recognition of his charitable work. For example, he delivered food supplies to the local village hall and care homes during the pandemic, whilst ensuring that his branch remained fully open throughout.
Azim combines the key elements of being a successful Postmaster. He is a shrewd businessman; he is very professional; he knows the wide variety of Post Office products and services offered at a busy Mains branch. He also has a great working relationship with his staff and takes the time to invest in his training. Above all, he is also very community-minded and caring, and great customer feedback about his service testifies to this fact.
